You know that gross caked-on feeling that comes with wearing too much (or crappy quality) foundation?
I’m pretty sure there’s nothing worse, besides the feeling of having liquid liner all over your eyelid after creating a painstakingly perfect cat eye. I might be hypersensitive to having anything on my face, though, since most of the time I just stick with moisturizer.
That’s not to say that I haven’t watched my fair share of “How To Get A Flawless Complexion” YouTube tutorials in my time. I’ve always admired women who have the foundation knowledge and skills needed to create #nofilter-worthy skin. Me, on the other hand, I’m just not willing to add pounds of makeup to my face. I’m like a fussy little toddler that way, I guess.
Thankfully, the makeup world has caught on that there are plenty of people like me who exist. There’s more than one heavy foundation alternative out there that won’t have you frantically running to wash your face after 6 hours of wearing it. I’m talking natural-looking, lightweight powders and liquids that just give your skin a gentle helping hand (instead of an aggressive shove) into #flawless territory.
This Armani Maestro dupe is the definition of getting your bang for your buck. In my books, it’s pretty much the best when it comes to drugstore foundations. It’s super liquid-y, but that means you don’t need a ton to get the job done and there’s not a trace of that creamy, caked-on feeling while you’re wearing it.
As soon as I read “natural-looking coverage” and “single drop” in the same sentence, I was sold. You can forget about walking around with a handful of liquid foundation on your face all day (yuck) because the bottle comes equipped with a pump that takes the guesswork out of everything for you. My only problem is that the bottle is so luxe-looking that I never want to use it up and throw it out.
It’s not rare to hear about a foundation being advertised as “melting right into your skin”. What is rare is finding a foundation that actually delivers on that front. This stuff is a tinted moisturizer, though, so you’re not gonna get as complete coverage as you would with a full-on foundation, but it’s perfect for lightly evening out your skin tone. Besides that, it feels absolutely amazing to wear which I’d take over 100% imperfection-free skin any day.
I actually have perfect-skinned friends who swear by this stuff, and for good reason. They don’t always wear foundation (because they don’t need to?lucky girls), but when they do, it’s lightweight and kind to their skin. Once you get over how cool the skintone matching beads are, you’ll love how it actually enhances your complexion instead of covering it up. Think of it as a “my skin but better” kind of thing.
When it comes to loose powders, your first instinct might be to layer them over a liquid foundation to set it. Not this one, though. This baby does full coverage all on its own yet weighs nothing. If you’re the kind of person who (like me) hates the feeling of having a layer of thick and oily foundation all over my face but can deal with a light dust of powder, this is perfect.
