Cue the fashion and football puns because we could go all night. As London Fashion Week comes to a close, we’ve caught a glimpse of beautiful designs from the likes of Shrimps, Simone Rocha, Mary Katrantzou and Burberry Prorsum, but we still can’t stop thinking about a designer who brought classic prep to an all-time high at NYFW. For Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall 2015 collection, fashion mixed with the traditions of the American spirit as we were whisked off the stage and onto the field.
We may have a history of dancing here at The Verso, but Tommy Hilfiger’s get-ups have us reconsidering the sporting life, especially since we don’t ever remember the uniforms being this stylish. Drawing in top front row-ers like Olivia Palermo, Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad, and Brit singing sensation Rita Ora, all dressed in their back-to-school best, the Fall 2015 RTW show was just as star studded on the field as it was off.
Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall collection wasn’t one of the more eclectic ones we’ve seen this season, but that didn’t make it any less memorable. With accents of navy, maroon, and tan, plus some fresh and fun takes on plaid, the epitome of American fashion brought us back to the days of school books and hallway chatter in the best, most nostalgic of ways. From coats to fur and a classic yet modern take on a private school uniform, Tommy Hilfiger brought unbelievable (and better yet, wearable) fashion to the runway.
It was all about the overcoats this year for Tommy and these three were definitely standouts. We don’t know if it’s the perfectly symmetrical stripes, the structured fit, or the impeccable fabric choices, but each one would have us strutting down the hallway with confidence. What’s more, we can’t tell if it’s Gigi Hadid that has us obsessed with the coat or the fact that it’s a red, patent-leather (looking), buttoned-up poncho with plaid lining that has us drooling and yearning for more. Either way, we like it.
We can’t help but wish there was a time machine to take us back a few decades so we could be high schoolers in the 1950s Grease era. We’d wear our man’s letterman jacket and pair it perfectly with our cute yet oversized pleated poodle skirts. We absolutely love Tommy Hilfiger’s take on classic, all-American style with stunning oversized sweaters and sheer, free-flowing dresses with strategically placed panels. The textured tights are just a bonus, really.
Now if only we had a Danny Zuko of our own to break into song, strip down, and sweep us off our feet…
